Fresh off winning the Audience Award out of 350 films at Melbourne International Film Festival, Hard as Puck will have its WA premiere at CinefestOZ next week with filmmaker Q&As for us to enjoy.
Hard as Puck is the debut feature documentary of Southwest film producer, Chanel Bowen. Chanel worked in film alongside other southwest creative corner contributors including Mark Boskell, Brooke Thomas, John Fairhead, Shelby Shaw and David Dare Parker before seeking out her own stories as producer.
As the founder of a scrappy Australian para ice hockey club prepares to step away, the players must band together, navigating politics and infghting to keep the club – and the sport – alive. It’s been described as ‘Cool Runnings’ meets ‘Rats in the Ranks’ and will both stir your heartstrings and leave you laughing out loud.
It was shot almost entirely in WA with some international shoot days in Slovakia and produced from the Southwest.
